Have you ever?
Me: Have you ever seen someone fall asleep at the Y?
B: No. Are you going to?
Me: I hope I'm not the first one!
B: Ha! See you there.
Me: Wake me up if I fall asleep on the weights.
B: Will do. Maybe the pregnant lady lifting weights next to you can wake you up. No joke.
Me: What? I've been gone so long that pregnant people lift?
B: And power walk!
I have yet to figure out what this exactly means and why he mentioned a pregnant lady at the Y. Regardless, it was a big deal to him so I'm sure there's a good story behind it!
Success!
Tonight I ran my headache right back where it came from. I suppose if I truly knew where it came from, then I’d make it go back there all the time. But, tonight’s cure for a mildly dull pain was to run. I will admit it wasn’t my best run. In fact, it was downright hard. I suppose I should have known that going into it. To feel as exhausted and tired as I felt, I’m surprised...

AT&T associate: You can download all kinds of applications.
Bryan: Cool.
AT&T: Do you guys have Facebook accounts.
Kyley: Yep.
B: Oh, yah. That's pretty much the only reason she wanted the phone.
AT&T: Well, you can download applications for Facebook and do all your normal stuff. You can't edit your profile, but you can do all the other functions.
K: You mean stalk?
........
B: I heard this phone is worse than crack.
AT&T: Oh yah. It's really addicting.
B: So if the BlackBerry is called the CrackBerry, what's the iPhone? The KyPhone?
........
B: I can't believe that after 3 hours you already had all of your contacts in and had added Facebook.
K: What? I was meant to have this phone because I'm so smart!
B: What?
K: Because I know how to use the phone! I'm awesome.
B: I don't think you should be connected ALL of the time. It's not good for you.
K: ("Duh" look as I walk away.)
Perfect weekend!
I have a wonderful group of friends who care about me and do what they can to make me feel special and loved. What was going to be an ordinary weekend, turned out to be one of the best weekends ever. The weekend started with dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. Twenty-seven people showed up to wish myself and a fellow co-worker happy birthday. A smaller crowd moved the party to a local drinking...
Diagnosis?
For the last four to five years I’ve had a bout with migraines. I’ve tried one prescription drug that was used in the fifties for people with depression. It was taken off the market because it wasn’t found to useful. (Irony? Yes.) It came back as a lighter dosage and was used for headaches. I wasn’t enthusiastic about taking meds. every day, but I gave it a shot. The...
Facebook's Inauguration Integration a 1.5 Million... →
(via meghanasha) I always love to see Facebook doing well in the eyes of the country. If only CNN would have been able to handle the mass streamers, we could have watched it too instead of listening. Regardless, it was fun watching all the FB status changes. We really have evolved into a technology world!
Still working my angle
Sunday:
Bryan: Did you see that Verizon has a better coverage area than AT&T?
Kyley: So.
Bryan: So, that means you won't have any service.
Kyley: So, I'll still have my iPhone.
Bryan: But it won't work because you won't have any service.
Kyley: So. It's an iPhone.
(I realize that this conversation did not give me the advantage.)
Monday:
Bryan: I wonder what the craze will be next. You know how everyone freaked out about the Razr. Now it's the iPhone. I wonder what's next.
Kyley: I don't care, I have the Razr. I want the iPhone, not what's next.
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
My typical reading pattern is to sit down and read, finish the book, wait a couple of days, and begin another book. I don’t read the back cover to find out what a book is about, I have a love of words, any words. After scimming the Acknowledgements I realized that this book might be a tough read. Any time you see a reference to a detective for the Columbine shootings, you know it’s not...
Rethinking having children
While waiting to get my nails filled, I had the opportunity to sit with three teenage girls. After spending 45 mins. in the same room, I’ve learned everything from year in school to extra-curricular activities and town they live in. Unfortunatley I also heard enough to make me question having children, at least girls. I learned that girl 1 is a senior mentor to girl 2 who is a freshman. This...
Some days it seems that the world would be better from underneath your covers. Even though the day is over, my bed seems like the best place to be tonight. If only I could…
What irks me in the winter...
is people who don’t have to come into work because they have children. When you’re sick, you have to claim short-term disability if you’re gone more than two days. So, how can you be at home, not sick, for three days? And then you still get paid for 40 hours when you only worked about 24, assuming you’ll come in tomorrow. That must be nice. While I’m at work all day...
Are you aware that cubicles are not sound...
Things that drive me crazy at work:
Spraying perfume or putting on heavy scented lotion - you may love the smell, but the rest of us don’t. We got dressed before work and sprayed ours on.
Cutting finger nails - that’s the grossest sound I’ve ever heard!
Talking to your husband about your dysfunctional children, your insurance, filing your taxes, getting a call from the...
Would you answer your mother's page?
My manager once told me, “There are two people I depend on in this group. I know if I need something done I can go to you and [co-worker].” That’s what makes me feel less like a secretary and more like a strong, dependable worker when I page him and he calls me back. I know exactly where he’s at right now and what he’s been doing for the last three days, but because I...
“Haven’t you ever heard of opposites attract?” “It’ll never work out. One of them will pick MySpace and one of them will pick Facebook and just like that, they’ll break up.”
- WB at it’s finest
I think you should apply
Me: Just because they use the word "lazy" does not mean that I would be the best candidate. I would be the best candidate because I love to blog and I am not beautiful.
B: I meant the nice place, weather, blogging and English.
Me: Uh huh.
B: I swear!
Me: Whatevs, I'm applying.
B: Do it.

Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t do this. The best job in the world, sent to you in an email link. Fate, maybe. Perfect, maybe. Six months away from everything, awesome!
A day in the life
Some days the real world blows. Today, there is a lot of blowing outside and some of it is filtering inside. That makes my head hurt and my brain mushy. I gotta figure out how to fix that before the birthday boy picks me up from work.
Happy baby shower!
Today, I hosted a surprise baby shower for a friend. Plans were lined up, cookies set out, and gifts in pink bags. We got her to my house with no indication that the afternoon was going to be all about her and that beautiful bundle of joy that is preparing to meet the world. Little moments make you feel closer to someone; standing in the kitchen holding her while she tries not to cry because of...
And the winner is...
“Here’s to Heath,” says Christian Bale as he exits the stage in apparent disarray. I’m just amazed that his only statement was thanks and here’s to Heath. He should have known this moment was coming, the predictions began before the movie released. But then again, he should have also known that his crazy, unruly red beard was not working with his a-little-too-wild jet...
Grandma on her 88th birthday
Just thinking about how great my grandma is. :)
This is what's wrong with boys today
During a recent conversation with a friend, she relayed a conversation she’d had about me. I’ll set up my two encounters first…
First encounter I had met her bf’s bff at a tailgate and our conversation went like this: [Me] “I’m Kyley.” [Boy] “I know.” [Me] Smile and just stand there and wait for my friend to get out of the port-a-potty. I...
Children
I may not have children of my own, but with 6 nephews and a little less than a million cousins, I feel this list is pretty accurate.
You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shutup.
Grandchildren are God’s reward for not killing your own children.
Mother’s of teens now know why some...
The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards
I just finished reading The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards. When I was searching for a thumbnail of the cover, I realized that Kim Edwards is a male. My gut reaction was surprise. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I’ve decided that it makes sense that the author was a man. The book was written from a male’s perspective. I found myself relating to the family...
Bride Wars --- January 9th!
I want to see this movie pretty badly. I have high expectations, high enough that I think it should be as good as 27 Dresses. If that’s the case, then I’ll go to it twice! And to make it even better, they even have a Facebook page! It’s destiny.
Refreshed
In an effort to herd off my insomnia tonight, I spent an hour at the Y tonight. Sitting on the couch watching Gossip Girls and sipping water, my lumpy throat doesn’t think running two miles was such a good idea. Whereas the treadmill made my body feel better (by better I mean I probably won’t be able to walk tomorrow), the treadmill also broke up everything that was in my lungs and now...
Comfort is being in your PJs all day long. Can you tell I’m looking forward to work tomorrow? :)
Good night
I have prepared my mind and body for a night of complete sleep. Donned in clean PJs, I feel a good night’s rest coming. Just in case, I’ve had water only today (Ok, that’s a lie. I had a glass of OJ at 6 a.m. and two drinks of Bry’s MTN Dew at noon). There will be no caffeine induced insomnia tonight. Glasses in tow, I am now left with the debate - read or just sleep. The...
Good morning insomnia, where did you come from?
For the third night in a row, I didn’t get much sleep. My whole life, I have been one thing…a sleeper. I have been able to sleep past noon with no alarm. I have been able to stay up all night and then sleep all day. I have been classifying myself as someone who loves sleep.
Three nights ago I tossed and turned and finally blamed it on the two Mountain (I’m sorry, MTN) Dews that...
Ketchup
In the hands of Mr. Insomnia, last night I dreamt vividly of a ketchup encounter that must be documented. For reasons not known, I forgot that I had a car and began walking with some friends. We left the south side of town and I continued on to the Kwik Trip gas station on 6th st. They had recently remodeled and now had an eating area. I grabbed a burger, the complimentary ketchup and potato chips...
NYE at the Leger's
Our first NYE party was a success! What made it even more of a success is that it only took me 45 mins. to clean up this morning. :) With 29 people and 5 kids running through the house, the only thing to spill was ice from an ice water glass. No one realized that Wrigley was home, until little Averie wanted to go to bed with the puppy. After Wrigley realized that he wasn’t going to...
